“Digital divide” is the unequal access to digital technology, including smartphones, tablets, laptops, and the internet. This leads to worsening inequality around access to information and resources in the present Information Age in which people with no access to the Internet and other technology are at a disadvantage, for being unable or less able to connect with others, find and apply for jobs, shop, and learn (on-line learning). The causes due to digital divide are many and include homelessness, people living in poverty, age, gender, educational disparities, rural-urban disparities, and class differentiation among others.The paper delves into the causes, challenges, possible solutions to digital divide, and the future aspects of the impact on people.
