Precision medicine represents a groundbreaking approach in healthcare, aiming to tailor treatments based on individual genetic, environmental, and lifestyle factors. This review explores notable case studies and success stories that demonstrate the transformative impact of precision medicine across various medical fields. Highlighted cases include the development of Herceptin for HER2-positive breast cancer, which targets specific genetic markers to improve treatment outcomes; the use of pembrolizumab in MSI-high cancers, showcasing tissue-agnostic therapy that leverages genetic mutations to enhance immune responses; the application of PCSK9 inhibitors in managing familial hypercholesterolemia, illustrating how genetic insights lead to innovative cardiovascular treatments; and the use of nusinersen for spinal muscular atrophy, which alters gene splicing to significantly improve motor function and survival. These examples underscore the potential of precision medicine to revolutionize patient care by providing targeted, effective treatments and advancing the understanding of genetic disorders.
